Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about industrial laser cleaning.

Laser Cleaning

General

Foundation questions about laser cleaning, scope and service coverage.

Laser cleaning uses pulsed laser energy to ablate or desorb contamination—such as rust, oxides, paint, oils and carbon—while preserving the substrate. We tune parameters via patch tests for repeatable results.
Yes. We’re Adelaide-based and mobilise to sites across Australia. We plan logistics for metro, regional and remote projects.
We can supply method statements, SWMS/JSA, before/after evidence, air monitoring (where required), and completion reports suitable for QA or regulatory records.

Process & Safety

How we plan, control and validate on live sites, shutdowns and possessions.

Yes—when delivered with controls. We use engineered extraction, local containment, PPE and documented procedures. The process is dry with no blasting media rebound or solvent fumes.
It depends on coating type/thickness and access. Laser often outperforms on selective work, complex features and locations where containment/cleanup dominate program time.
Yes. We align the method to your paint or inspection specification. Laser leaves a clean, dry surface; we can provide readiness evidence as required.

Materials & Applications

What we can clean and where lasers add the most value.

Carbon and stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium and selected copper/nickel alloys. For galvanised steel, we apply localised methods with extraction. We’ll confirm suitability via assessment.
Rust/oxides, mill scale (selectively), paint/coatings (including chromates/lead), heat tint, carbon/soot, adhesive residues and oil/grease films—subject to access and required finish.
Often yes. Compact optics and fibre delivery allow in-place cleaning through manways and access hatches—ideal for limited access and confined spaces.

Hazardous Coatings

Lead, chromates and coal-tar epoxies—safer removal with less waste.

Yes. Laser enables localised de-coating with reduced secondary waste. We use extraction, filtration and compliant hazardous waste handling. ACMs/PCBs require licensed abatement first.
Hazard identification, method statements, SWMS/JSA, extraction/filtration specs, air monitoring (where required) and completion reports for regulator or client QA.

Confined & Limited Access

Dry, media-free cleaning inside tanks, vessels, voids and structural recesses.

Yes. We supply attendants, rescue plans, ventilation/extraction and monitoring aligned to your site’s permit-to-work and HSE requirements.
In many cases, yes. Compact optics and fibre delivery allow precise, localised cleaning with minimal masking and no water or grit media.

Pricing & Quotes

How we scope, estimate and schedule your project.

Quotes reflect area/length, contamination or coating type and thickness, access constraints, containment/extraction, reporting and mobilisation. We offer fixed-scope quotes and day rates.
Lead time depends on scope and location. For shutdowns/possessions, share target dates early— we’ll align resources, permits and equipment to your program.
